Daira Maldonado

Daira is a friend, daughter, student, and most importantly, a participant of her community. She was born in Tacna, Peru and was raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. Daira grew up in the Mt. Washington area where she was involved in her community and enjoyed the atmosphere of the neighborhood that was her home. From a young age Daira knew that she wanted to give back to the people around her. This was a value instilled in her not only by her mother but also by the schools she attended.

Currently, Daira is enrolled at University of Cincinnati where she is a senior majoring in Political Science and Psychology with certificates in Legal Studies and Business French on a Pre-Law track. She chose to major in Political Science and Psychology because she is eager to understand the relationships that influence the law at a human and analytical level. She chose a certificate in Legal Studies because she values learning about the history of legal processes and the weight that its development holds. Lastly, she chose a certificate in Business French because she is passionate about learning new languages to expand her understanding and communication with groups of people.

Daira is a member of the Phi Alpha Delta Pre-Law Fraternity where she can interact with peers that are seeking a career in the legal field as well as interact with attorneys who she is able to learn from.  She is also a member of Pi Sigma Alpha National Political Science Honor’s Society which awards academic excellence in the field of Political Science. As a first-generation immigrant, Daira is grateful for the opportunities that she has been given such as working as a legal assistant under the mentorship of Attorney Korneeva. Daira hopes to follow Anna’a footsteps and give back to my community, as well.
